Welcome!

My husband (Phil) and I seriously committed to living a healthier lifestyle earlier this year. While we are not new to the raw food lifestyle and have chosen not go 100% raw, we have committed to adopting the 85% raw 15% cooked food approach.

We firmly believe that we are uniquely created individuals and as such, have different needs. There is no "one solution" to everyone's needs. We are all in different and changing states of health and so the approach to achieving better health will be different for everyone.

We recently discovered the wealth of resources available to individuals, just like us who are tired of being sick! While we are not "sick" in the traditional sense defined by Western medicine, we do have our issues. Phil frequently suffers from sinus issues, more so this year than any other resulting from the poor air quality in our area caused by the recent forest fires. A dedicated and accomplished athlete, Phil holds an Oregon State power-lifting record and has redefined my image of what a "strong man" looks like. Phil is lean but oh so strong at the tender age of 40!

I on the other hand, suffer from frequent eczema/psoriasis breakouts and ahem... "irregularity" resulting from years of eating the Standard American Diet (SAD). I consider myself to be in a constant state of "work-in-progress" desperately combating the "aged, tired and nasty feelings" unfortunately shared by many American women, especially those in their mid-40's! I have a renewed desire to reclaim my physique and redefine what "fit & healthy" mean to me.

While we tend to find ourselves preaching about the evils of the SAD from a top our soap-boxes, we also acknowledge and respect beliefs and choices of others that differ from our own. FREEDOM TO CHOOSE is what makes our country so great! With that said, our intentions are simply to share our experiences with others embarking on similar quests to discover alternative paths that lead us to the "Greatest state of Fitness, Health and Well-being" we all desire.

You are so correct--Knowlege is Power- and how we share this knowledge is being the example on a daily basis. The journey into raw living foods encompasses more than just what we are going to eat on a day to day basis. It is a journey deep into discovering our pure potential as light beings. Through this amazing we journey we are shown our gifts and guided towards a path where we can share these unique gifts that we all have. I realized the other day, that I have so much more to learn about my body and what its needs are. I have eaten live foods for almost two years now and am discovering that I am just beginning to dive deep into this journey. People are all so different and have different needs. How exiting Hilaw Girl that you and your husband are being so open with yourselves. Just the acknowledgement that a change in diet is needed is a very powerful key that will unlock so much more. May we all walk lightly with ourselves and with each other through this journey!
